Jamie's Birthday September 2010

                                   !

Happy Birthday Jamie!

We all met at Jamie's house! Off we went to Sparta where we would reconnect with our loved ones who had passed. We went to a Medium! Eight of us sat in a circle with the Medium. She went around the room and gave us messages from those who passed. Some of what she said was correct while other things ,we thought, could have applied to anyone.
We were there for over 2 hours. We then went out to dinner. We ate at a small Italian restaurant called Il Portico. We shared some wine, laughs and made friends! At the next table where 8 men, They were from the NYFD. They were in 9/11. They sang Happy Birthday to Jamie and even helped put her birthday necklace on!!

To all of my birthday club buddies...

Thank you so much for an unbelievable afternoon and evening!!! What a blast!!!!

Our new friend "Arlene" was a fantastic experience even if she did not tell most of us things that we wanted to hear. I still enjoyed listening to what she had to say about everyone. DINNER...OMG...DINNER!!! How much fun was that??? I felt like I was in college. Hey girls...we still got it!!! How about those guys from the FDNY!!! HOT!!

Seriously...Thank you so much for celebrating my birthday with me and for making me feel so special. I absolutely love our club and how it takes us away from the everyday "stuff"... even when we feel that we are so busy that we can't take the time to relax, enjoy and just be together. I love my necklaces and I am wearing them as we speak. I will think of you all when I wear them and what a great time we had together!!!

Thank you again!

Until the next time...

XOXOXOXOXOX...all of my love...

Jamie

PS: Great planning and "researching" job!!!

From Mindy...
I am so glad you enjoyed. Had a great time. My mom loved hearing all the stories. She gave Arlene 2 thumbs up.
Long live the Birthday Club!

Shelly's Birthday July 2010

Happy Birthday Shelly!

Shelly's birthday was celebrated is SAGAPONICK! Marlene hosted all of us . We left Tuesday morning, July 13th and returned Thursday July 15th. In attendance were Shelly, Marlene, Eleanor, Mindy, Jamie, Amy, and Shari-Beth as well as the newest member Julie. We had a blast!

Although the weather was not cooperating we didn't care. The house was fabulous! It was like we were in a 5 Star hotel! Lunch was waiting for us when we arrived! Jason, the chef had the most delicious and healthy meal prepared for us. We all enjoyed our healthy lunch! After lunch we went shopping in East Hampton. We hoped the weather would get better but it didn't so we went to see the Joan River's movie. After the movie we went back to house and changed into our evening attire and had cocktails! Jason prepared dinner and we sat down at 7:30 for the festive meal. Again, the food was delicious and the portions were perfect.

The question is...How many strawberries do you use and were they macerated!

After dinner we played Apples to Apples and laughed until we cried.  Loads of fun.  We are loving The Birthday Club!

We were all hoping for a little sunshine. The morning was cloudy but after lunch the sun started to shine!  Breakfast and lunch were delicious and sitting by the pool was relaxing.  After lunch it was time for more shopping.  Eleanor, Jamie, Mindy and Amy went into East Hampton while Marlene, Shelly and Shari-Beth relaxed by the pool.  The weather was beautiful!

Before we knew it, it was time to eat so we went into East Hampton for dinner.

That night we hung out and "dished" about Mrs. Corzine. What she was going to do with all the furntire? And ,what was in the locked storage closet in the basment!  Snooping in the basement was fun but it was soon time to get to bed.

Thursday morning we ate breakfast went for a short bike ride and then it was time to return to reality.

It was a great few days with lots of laughs. Thanks Marlene!

From Shelly...
Good morning ladies, Just want to thank you all for taking the time out of your busy schedules to be with me on my birthday week. I had so much fun at Teppers spa and beach club. So when other friends ask me how was my week, I really don't even know how to describe the laughs and the ease that we all seem to feel with each other. We all know that the accommodations couldn't be nicer and the gourmet spa food served to us continuously was delicious, but truthfully it was really about the people. I love each and everyone of you and am so happy you are all apart of my life! Thank you all for being you and I am so excited for all the wonderful birthday events that we will share this year and hopefully for many years together.

All my love, xoxoxoxo Shelly (I'm done!)

Amy's Birthday May 2010

Happy Birthday Amy!

Mindy coordinated Amy's birthday! In attendances were Eleanor, Marlene, Jamie, Shelly, Mindy and Shari-Beth. Mindy organized a beautiful day. We went to the "Mansions in May" event. The Woman’s Association of Morristown Memorial Hospital "Mansion in May" is their signature fundraiser and also their most profitable event. It has generated over $5 million for Morristown Memorial Hospital since its inception in 1974. Over 18,000 visitors attend the Mansion during the month of May.
The 34-acre estate, originally named Graymar Farm, traces back to 1937 when wealthy businessman Allan Kirby, the president of Alleghany Corporation, purchased part of a large farm located in prestigious New Vernon. The farm remained in the Kirby family until 1980. A few years later, the estate was acquired by its current owners, renamed, and greatly enhanced through a meticulous restoration of the main house and other buildings.

We met in the parking lot and  shuttled to the mansion. We decided to eat lunch first. Lunch was served in a large white tent. After lunch we toured the mansion. Each room was decorated by different interior designers and we all took home some decorating tips. After the tour we shopped for a bit and all agreed it was too hot and it was time to go home.

We took the shuttle back to the cars where we presented Amy with her gift. A basket full of fun things for the beach. Amy loved it!

From Amy...
Good Morning, girls!
Just want to say a very heartfelt thank you to all of you for a wonderful day yesterday. In spite of the heat, which made us all wilt a little, it was a really lovely afternoon! Lots of pretty things to look at and fun ideas to tuck away for future decorating plans. Some of us have more urgency in that department than others (Marlene!) but you never know when that urge to build a bowling alley will hit you!!!
And I adore the contents of the beautiful beach bag...from the towel to the books, right down to the 70 spf sunscreen...I will be using a lot of that this summer! Lauren had her eye on the cute flower flip flops, but I told her to keep her piggy little toes out of them! They're mine! A very creative and useful gift...thank you!
So thanks again for planning the great day (especially Mindy!), for the fun presents, but mostly thanks for your friendship and for celebrating my big (little!) day!
Love you,
Amy

Mindy's Birthday February 2010

Happy Birthday Mindy!

This was our first official Birthday Club gathering. After we had met for Eleanor's birthday we realized that the whole Birthday Club thing was really a good idea on so many levels.   We agreed that we really enjoyed getting together, celebrating together and doing new, fun things together. So, we went Back to NYC for more fun. In Attendance were Mindy, Eleanor,Marlene,Shelly, Jamie and Shari-Beth.

We met at the MoMA.  We first had lunch. We ate at the The Modorn .  The Modorn is located in the MoMA. They offer the original, French-American cuisine of Alsatian-born Executive Chef Gabriel Kreuther, with desserts by Pastry Chef Marc Aumont. The Dining Room, which overlooks The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, is where
we ate a delicious lunch. It felt like we were sitting there for hours.  On second thought we were sitting there for hours,  We then gave Mindy her present... A beautiful Lalique perfume Bottle...We walked through the museum and saw Monet's Waterlillies.

Marlene, had a doctor's appointment...the funny thing was she returned from her appointment before we could miss her. It was so fast! The museum was interesting...The most unusual exhibit we saw was Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present .

Very Interesting!

After the museum we went home.  It was a great day!

Eleanors's Birthday 2010

Welcome to the Birthday Club!  The purpose of this blog is to keep a journal of all the members birthday celebrations!

Happy Birthday Eleanor!

January is usually a cold dark month but  January of 2010 turned out to be a month that would start a tradition that will hopefully last a lifetime. Six friends, Eleanor Mindy, Jamie, Marlene, Shelly and Shari-Beth got together to share Eleanor's birthday. Although we all knew each other, some were better friends than others and some were mere acquaintances.

It wasn't a "milestone" birthday but it was a special day. Mindy coordinated the day. It was great! The plan was to meet in New York City, see a show and have dinner. What we didn't realize- it was the beginning of many traditions.
The show we saw was Love,Lost and What I Wore . The show was light and funny and we all really enjoyed it.

After the show we had a bottle of champagne and ate a delicious dinner.  We played a game called "How well do you know your friend."  This was Shelly's idea...Playing this game was fun and it gave each of the girls an opportunity to share their story.
This is where /whenwe decided to Start THE BIRTHDAY CLUB
